What Our Customers Say

Real reviews from real customers across Essex, Kent, London and Hertfordshire.

From our first detailed conversation, it was clear William knew his stuff. He took great care of the fish during the process and left me with a sparkling clean pond, a new filter system, and a clear plan for ongoing care. I've already booked a follow-up. I couldn't be happier with the results.

William turned up at the agreed time on a Sunday morning. He was fully equipped and left the waterfall working well and the area clean. He was approachable all the time and left me with a few hints. All in all he did an excellent job and I can thoroughly recommend him.

Frequently Asked Questions

What aquatic plants should I put in my pond?

A balanced pond needs oxygenators (such as hornwort or water crowfoot), marginals (like iris or marsh marigold), water lilies for shade and surface cover, and ideally some floating plants. The right mix depends on your pond size, depth and whether you keep fish. We advise the best combination for your specific pond.

When is the best time to plant aquatic plants?

Late spring to early summer (May–June) is ideal, when water temperatures are rising and plants are actively growing. Marginals can also be planted in early autumn. We advise on the best timing depending on the plants chosen.

Do aquatic plants need special compost?

Yes - aquatic plants should be planted in low-nutrient aquatic compost, not standard garden compost. Ordinary compost releases excessive nutrients into the water, causing algae blooms. We always use the correct planting media.

Will plants help clear my pond water?

Yes. Oxygenating plants and water lilies compete directly with algae for nutrients and light, helping to naturally clarify the water. A well-planted pond often needs less chemical treatment and is easier to maintain year-round.

How many plants does my pond need?

A useful guide is to aim for 50–60% of the water surface to be shaded by floating leaves (water lilies, floating heart) during peak summer, and 1–2 bunches of oxygenating plants per square metre of pond floor. We'll assess your specific pond size, depth and sun exposure to design the right planting density.

Do aquatic plants come back every year?

Most established aquatic plants are perennials and return year after year from their rootstocks. Water lilies, iris, marsh marigold and most marginals are fully hardy in UK conditions. They do need dividing every 2–3 years when they become overcrowded - we can manage this as part of an ongoing maintenance schedule.

Can you supply plants as well as install them?

Yes - we source and supply all plants ourselves, using reputable specialist UK aquatic nurseries to ensure quality and health. You don't need to buy anything - just tell us your preferences and we'll bring everything needed on the day.
